Our mission is to bring the culture of Mexico to residents of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. ACAL de Mco was founded in the spring of 1973 by a multi-ethnic group of citizens.
Through ACAL's presentation and sponsorship of events such as live theatrical performances, art exhibitions, recitals, concerts, lectures by prominent speakers and "Cenas Bailables" (dinner-dances), residents of the Metroplex have had the opportunity to experience for themselves the excitement and splendor of the Mexican culture.
The word ACAL serves two functions.
ACAL is an acronym for Alianza Cultural de Artes y Letras, which in Spanish means, Cultural Alliance for Arts and Letters.
ACAL is also the Natl Indian word for canoe, a major means of transportation for these people. The canoe logo is the symbol of ACAL de Mco, which has been transporting the culture and traditions of Mexico to Dallas for over 30 years.
